The National Student Radio Conference is alive and well!
We have just finished emailing all the Guests and Visitors, but if you didn’t receive it, hopefully the following will help.
We are located less than 10 minutes’ walk from the city centre and bus/train station at Áras na Mac Léinn, University Rd, NUI Galway Campus, Galway City. Our building is in the same building as Flirt FM and tours of the station will be made throughout the day.
Registration begins at 11am on Saturday in Áras na Mac Léinn. Those who have purchased tickets will be guaranteed a lanyard and information pack (including WiFi access codes), however if you have not already arranged tickets then we cannot guarantee these so please be there early!
The conference starts at 11.30am with an opening reception with a speaker with Mary Lennon (Craol). Then talks will begin with hot lunch being provided in the Hub at 1.45pm with options of veg and chicken.
Some of the confirmed talks include:
• Denzil Lacey from Classic Hits 4FM covering Imaging
• Team 33 from Newstalk covering Sport
• Louise Clarke from iRadio covering Careers in media
• Joyce Kenny from Craol/Raidio na Life covering Irish language
• Shane O’Connor from BBC 5 Live covering Programme Production
• La Cosa Preziosa, freelance journalist covering a Workshop on Field Recording: Practice, Inspiration and Challenges
• Mary O’Malley, freelance journalist covering a Writing Workshop
The list of speakers is available on the website and on the timetable here.
Two special events will take place on Saturday: Dark Delightson and the Listening Party on Saturday Afternoon.
The full timetable can be found at the below link:
Tickets are €10 per person if not already booked. Please keep in mind that we cannot guarantee a welcome pack. We are happy to accept cheque on the day but please notify us know before hand.
Áras na Mac Léinn and the College Bar are located on University Rd, across from Tesco Express & UCHG Hospital. When coming from Eire Square, cross the bridge and turn right at the NUI Galway University Rd Entrance (Beside Security office). Continue walking and follow the signs to Áras na Mac Léinn (on your right hand side when you walk in the main entrance, you will see the Quad on your left).
After the conference we will be heading to Monroe’s Tavern, so it would be great if you could join us.
If you have any problems or questions please do give us a ring on 091 493470 // 086 338 3573 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
